Sauna Kaizen: A Full Sauna Experience in the Smallest Footprint
When people hear "compact sauna," they usually picture a compromise. A box that heats up but doesn't feel like a real sauna. The Kaizen was designed to challenge that assumption - to prove that a smaller footprint doesn't have to mean a lesser experience.
What Kaizen Means
Kaizen (改善) is a Japanese concept meaning continuous improvement - small, deliberate changes that compound over time. It's a philosophy rooted in the belief that perfection isn't a destination but a practice.
We chose this name for our most compact model because every centimetre of its design reflects that principle. Nothing is there by accident. Nothing is missing that should be present.
Small, meaningful changes that elevate your daily life - that is the essence of Kaizen.
Designed for Small Spaces
The Kaizen measures 1.92m × 2.44m with a height of 2.6m. That's under 5m² of ground space. The Kaizen sauna seats up to three people and uses a 6kW electric heater that reaches 90°C.

The key was not to shrink a large sauna, but to design from the ground up for this specific footprint. The bench placement, the heater position, the window sizing - all were calculated for this volume, not adapted from a bigger model.

Construction and Materials
Exterior cladding is thermo pine - thermally modified at high temperatures to improve dimensional stability and weather resistance. It won't warp, and it won't rot.
Interior panelling is lime wood (lipa). It's soft to the touch, has minimal resin, and stays comfortable at sauna temperatures without the risk of burns or splinters.
Benches are aspen (osika) - a traditional Finnish choice valued for its light colour, smooth grain, and low thermal conductivity.
Why we use different woods inside and out
Exterior wood needs to resist weather. Interior wood needs to resist heat without releasing resin or becoming too hot to sit on. These are fundamentally different jobs, which is why we never use the same species for both.
The walls are insulated with 100mm of mineral wool, and the roof uses standing seam metal.

Ventilation in a Small Sauna
Sauna ventilation is essential, especially in a smaller sauna space. With less air volume, CO₂ levels rise faster and temperature stratification becomes more pronounced. A gravity vent alone won't keep the air fresh.
Every Kaizen sauna comes equipped with our YukiHeat mechanical ventilation system. A controlled fresh air intake and low-mounted exhaust ensure even heat distribution and a steady supply of oxygen throughout your session.
Why this matters
In a sauna this size, the interior air volume is just 6.3m³. Without mechanical ventilation, three people can push CO₂ levels above comfortable thresholds within 10-15 minutes. YukiHeat keeps levels well below 800 ppm, even during longer sessions.

Learn More →Choose a Finish
The Kaizen is available in three exterior finishes, each giving the sauna a distinctly different character.
Unpainted Thermo Pine - the wood is left in its natural colour and develops a silver-grey patina over time. A softer look that blends into green surroundings.
Chemically Aged Thermo Pine - the wood is chemically aged to its final grey tone right away, with no need to wait for it to weather naturally.
Black Thermo Pine - painted wood with a deep, matte black finish. It pairs well with modern architecture, darker fencing, or minimalist gardens.
All three options use the same thermo pine base. The choice is purely aesthetic - there's no difference in durability or performance.

A Mobile Sauna
Like all Yuki saunas, the Kaizen sauna is built on a steel frame. It can be lifted by crane and transported to a new location if you move.
The Kaizen's size and weight make it one of the easiest saunas to relocate. We also offer a trailer add-on that bolts directly under the steel frame - so you can tow the Kaizen sauna with a car.
